CPC 464 Plus (Amstrad)------------Fell 3Ft and hit the floor screen first-No 5V from connector:
SOLUTION:While the item was in storage it fell of a box crashing to the floor screen first..!, it was protected by bubble wrap and that was over a year ago.
Now i need to assemble the unit and discover the computer is dead no power,i measure the dc jack from the monitor and the 5V is missing,
as i know how the fault came about i remove the back cover and look for signs of impact damage on the pcb near fixing screws,etc but everything looks okay.
Then some thing does catch my eye - a very small crack in the coating on the underside of the board between two transistors Q502-Q503

Sure enough using a multimeter i check for a continuity and there is none so i wire across the split pcb and power is restored.
NOTE: The CPC 464 plus comes with a cartridge (Burnin' Rubber and Locomotive BASIC)
Make sure its plugged in otherwise you will just get a green screen :)
